Got the call again from Scunthorpe solicitors Bradbury Roberts & Raby to update their staff headshots. It’s always good to know that clients are happy enough with your work to invite you back to do more. I love providing their photography based images to be used as evidence in court when dealing with medical negligence, motoring offences, or industrial injury. Sounds gruesome but it provides an invaluable service ensuring a swifter conclusion to such cases.

Bulten

I’d already done several jobs for multinational suppliers to the automotive industry Bulten before and were delighted to be invited to photograph a major company announcement to the whole staff. I even managed to fit in a glass of bubbly, not before I’d got the shots though.

Tickton Grange

Another bridal shoot, but this time with the new camera, lenses, and lighting……and oh boy, the gear doesn’t disappoint.

Still it’s not all about your equipment, obviously an eye for a shot helps, and credit must be given to Elle Bee who modeled the gowns so elegantly. Speaking of which thanks once again go to Tracy of Lily’s Bridal in Scunthorpe who made the dresses and accessories look great.

Of course none of these shots would have been quite so beautiful if Tickton Grange Hotel in Beverly hadn’t so kindly let us have the run of their quite magnificent and chic Georgian venue.

Upgrade

To say we’re excited would be a massive understatement…..

“why?” I hear you ask. Well if you’ll excuse the technical jargon we’ve just invested in a complete overhaul of equipment. After much research and umming and ahhing we’re staying with Nikon.

Two new camera bodies (with massive megapixel capabilities,at 36.3MP),

24mm f1.8,

50mm f1.4,

and the much heralded new generation 70-200mm f2.8,

a complete Godox lighting system with wireless capabilities incorporating 2x 600W strobes and new generation speedlight, complete with light modifiers, and lots of other really exciting stuff like a carbon fibre tripod.

The possibilities are pretty much endless now. We’re not looking to merely take pictures, but rather to create art.

Gibala’s Carpets and Furniture, Ashby

Gibalas have almost finished a complete refurbishment of their Ashby premises and I’m really looking forward to showing this shop off in all its new found glory, not only that, the staff are going to be modelling their new uniforms too.

Prime Lenses

Here at Northernclick we’re big fans of prime lenses over zoom lenses.

Sure they dictate how far away you stand from your subject, but we’ve found that if you use two camera bodies, say one with a 35mm lens, which generally is a replication of how the human eye sees the world, and another with perhaps a 105mm lens for portraits, you can cover most situations at a wedding.

The advantage is that they are much faster lenses which means if you’re a big fan of bokeh and your subject popping out of the frame this is the only way to go.

Glamorgan Brewery, Cardiff (for the Todays Group)

Well given this is a brewery we weren’t going to let a round trip in excess of 500 miles put us off. Funny that, it reminds me of a song. This was a pleasure to shoot, stainless steel vats, piles of beer barrels, and lots of bottles. Unfortunately no free beer to taste.

Dee Bees Hull (for the Todays Group).

Dee Bees are a wholesaler based in Hull. The size of the place is astonishing, but we think we managed to capture a big selection of what they offer to local retailers, hoteliers, pubs and restaurants.

GG Steel Kirton Lindsey

GG Steel are a well established motor dealer based in Kirton in Lindsey. We spent an hour or so shooting their showroom stacked with classic cars, and in their rather impressive service area. I couldn’t turn down the invitation to take some more shots at Blyton racetrack where they were testing very mean looking BMW prior to a race.
